Glooiende stranden, woestijnachtige vlaktes en torenhoge bergtoppen: Jandia is Fuerteventura op zijn mooist. En tijdens deze gemakkelijke wandeltocht zie je het schiereiland in al zijn glorie. Het natuurpark van Jandia, Sotavento en Morro Jable staan allemaal op het programma. Evenals vrije tijd om te zwemmen, van het uitzicht te genieten en de duinen te verkennen.

Je begint in het natuurpark van Jandia. Dit enorme reservaat beslaat het grootste deel van de zuidpunt van het eiland en omvat bergen, rotskusten, zandduinen en ongerepte wildernis – een paradijs voor natuurliefhebbers. Dan ga je verder naar Sotavento, waar kristalhelder water aan het zachte, gouden zandstrand grenst. Hier heb je wat vrije tijd om een duik te nemen, langs het strand te wandelen of gewoon het uitzicht in je op te nemen.

De volgende bestemming is Morro Jable. Hoewel dit kleine vissersdorp in de loop der jaren wat toeristischer is geworden, heeft het zijn traditionele Canarische charme weten te behouden. Je hebt hier de tijd aan jezelf om Instagram-waardige foto's van Playa del Matorral te maken of lekker te chillen met een kop koffie in een van de lokale cafés.

This exclusive off-road experience takes you through northern Fuerteventura's pockmarked volcanic landscapes to remote beaches and the fishing village of El Cotillo. On this private tour it's just you, your family or friends, plus the guide, so take it at your own pace. Juan Carlos, one of our local guides, says, ‘You can see a string of volcanic craters behind Corralejo. You visit the largest, Bayuyo, on this safari. The last eruption was about 10,000 years ago, spreading lava and ash across the north of the island, and it actually expanded the island by around 100 square kilometres.'You'll be whisked down rural trails and past lava fields as we zoom through Fuerteventura's scarred landscapes. Stopping at Bayuyo's scorched flanks, you'll get to see the crater up close. Juan Carlos adds, ‘A scurry of chipmunks is often waiting there to see if anyone has brought them a snack. They love nuts.' From here, you'll traverse arid terrain in your 4x4 until you reach the beachside hamlet of Majanicho on the northwest coast.Next, you'll follow sandy tracks parallel to the coastline until the splendid beaches and lagoons of El Cotillo come into view. Enjoy some free time in El Cotillo and the chance to grab some dinner. There's a great variety of eateries, so take your pick – tasty tapas in a typical Canarian bar, fresh fish straight to your plate. Stroll to the harbour or enjoy the view from Tostón castle while the sun sinks slowly into the ocean.

Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura Ticket

Oasis Wildlife is home to a huge variety of birds, reptiles and African animals, living as close to their natural habitat as possible. There's a successful breeding programme here and recent arrivals include giraffes, sea lions and hippos. Get up close to many of them at the sea lion, reptile and birds of prey shows. In between shows, you can come eye-to-eye with the giraffes on the viewing platform, laugh at the antics of the cheeky chimps, admire the elephants and take pictures of the meerkats, otters, zebras and hippos – the list is endless. Lobos Island Ferry Ticket with Transport
